Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal Leads BJP Membership Drive in Assam

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, addressed multiple meetings in Dhemaji and Lakhimpur districts as part of the BJP’s Membership Drive. The event saw hundreds of people joining the party, showing strong support for the campaign.

Sonowal urged people to follow the path of ‘Sewa’ (service) to society and the country, a principle promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014. He said, “The membership drive of our party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is a moment of celebration for all of us.”

He emphasized the importance of serving the motherland and strengthening society to build a strong country. Sonowal highlighted the roadmap to national service presented by Modi when he became Prime Minister, calling for everyone to work towards an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).

Sonowal praised the Modi government’s efforts in holistic welfare and development, stating that all sections of society have benefitted from various schemes. He assured that the BJP-led NDA government would continue working towards the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (developed India).

The membership drive included meetings in Tokobari, Sisiborgaon, Thekeraguri, Chauldhowa, Nakadam, and Khelmati Naamghar, culminating at Ranganadi LAC in Lakhimpur district. Sonowal criticized previous governments for neglecting Assam and the northeast, contrasting this with the BJP’s efforts to improve infrastructure and financial inclusion in the region.

He concluded by highlighting the development of roads, bridges, and communication means, as well as initiatives to empower youth and women to become entrepreneurs. Sonowal expressed optimism about making India the best country in the world.
