Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu Inspects Railway Board Canteen in New Delhi

On Thursday, Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, made a surprise visit to the Railway Board canteen in New Delhi. The inspection took place during lunch hour, allowing the Minister to review the canteen’s facilities and services.

Accompanied by the Secretary of the Railway Board and other senior officials, Bittu interacted with the canteen manager and staff to understand the operations better. He visited various sections, including the cash counter, kitchen, and juice counter. He also spoke with Railway Board staff during their lunch break to inquire about the food quality.

The staff expressed satisfaction with the canteen services. However, Bittu emphasized the need for maintaining high standards of hygiene and food quality, directing the canteen manager to ensure these standards are upheld.

Ravneet Singh Bittu, a BJP leader and former Congress MP, was sworn in as a Union Cabinet Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on June 9. Despite losing the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he was inducted into the cabinet. Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and the son of former Punjab Minister Tej Parkash Singh. He switched from Congress to BJP before the 2024 elections and contested from the Ludhiana constituency, where he lost to Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring by 20,942 votes.

Bittu previously won the 2009 Lok Sabha election from Anandpur Sahib and the 2014 and 2019 elections from Ludhiana on a Congress ticket. In the 2024 elections, the BJP did not win any seats in Punjab, while Congress won seven, AAP won three, SAD won one, and two seats were won by independents.
