Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Responds to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s Remarks
In New Delhi, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his comments labeling the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a “terrorist party.” Joshi highlighted past incidents during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule, accusing Congress of being lenient towards terror convict Afzal Guru and expressing sympathy for terrorists killed in the Batla House encounter.
Joshi emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there has been a notable reduction in terrorist activities. He pointed out that Kashmiri youth now have jobs instead of resorting to violence, a change from the Congress era. Joshi urged Kharge to verify his statements before making them.
On October 12, Kharge had rejected PM Modi’s claim that Congress is influenced by “Urban Naxals” and accused the BJP of being responsible for violent acts against Scheduled Castes and tribals. Kharge’s remarks were met with criticism from BJP’s National Spokesperson CR Kesavan, who accused Congress of having a divisive mindset akin to the colonial British.
