Union Minister Pralhad Joshi announced the organization of a ‘chintan shivir’ in Odisha to create a plan for achieving India’s renewable energy targets. He highlighted the country’s progress in renewable energy, noting a significant reduction in fossil fuel dependence and a 130-fold increase in solar energy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Joshi shared that India has reached 90 gigawatts of solar capacity and aims for 500 gigawatts by 2030. The government plans to invest Rs 42 crore to meet this target. Additionally, India is working towards producing 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen by 2030.

International Solar Alliance and Future Goals

At the International Solar Alliance, Joshi discussed India’s solar rooftop initiatives and the “1000 Strategy,” which aims to mobilize $1000 billion in solar energy investments by 2030. This strategy seeks to provide energy access to 1000 million people, install 1000 gigawatts of solar capacity, and reduce carbon emissions by 1000 metric tons annually.

Joshi emphasized the importance of solar energy in cultures worldwide and urged collaboration among governments, organizations, and the private sector to advance the solar revolution.
