The Minister urged focus on business and trade issues in Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations with the EU. He pointed out that European companies are drawn to India’s market, democracy, and leadership, which promise stability and growth.

India’s Economic Growth

Goyal mentioned India’s goal to become a developed nation by 2047, with the economy projected to grow from USD 3.5 trillion to USD 35 trillion, offering opportunities for European businesses.

Role of FEBI

FEBI is expected to act as a bridge between the EU and India, addressing business concerns and enhancing trade engagement. Goyal also highlighted the EU-India Trade and Technology Council’s focus on green technology, clean energy, and strategic missions.

Tribute to Ratan Tata

Goyal paid tribute to the late Ratan Tata for his role in strengthening business ties between Europe and India. The Tata Group’s successful expansions were noted as a testament to his leadership.

EU-India Trade Relations

EU Ambassador to India, H.E. Herve Delphin, stated that the EU is India’s largest trading partner, with over 4,000 European companies in India. The upcoming India-EU Summit and FTA discussions are expected to further strengthen bilateral relations.
