Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Praises PM Modi on Gandhi Jayanti for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
On October 2, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari attended the ‘Swachhata Bharat Abhiyan’ event in Nagpur, Maharashtra, to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting the cleanliness program across India. Gadkari highlighted the importance of clean water, air, and pesticide-free vegetables for a healthy life and noted the public’s strong support for the initiative.
Gadkari said, “Swachhata Abhiyan has played a big role in making the life of the common man sustainable… Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, the ‘Swachh Bharat’ dream of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, is coming true.”
Earlier in the day, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw attended a similar event in Kolkata, West Bengal, along with Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar. Vaishnaw extended his wishes on Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary and noted the start of ‘Devi Paksha’. He emphasized the need to maintain cleanliness everywhere.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also participated in a cleanliness drive with schoolchildren, marking 10 years of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign. He stated that the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ is the world’s biggest and most successful movement of this century, driven by public participation and leadership. PM Modi said, “The Swachh Bharat Mission is a symbol of the selfless commitment of crores of Indians, and in the last 10 years, crores of Indians have adopted this mission and made it a part of their lives.”
