Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Launches eShram Portal for Unorganised Workers
On October 21, Union Minister of Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, introduced the “eShram – One Stop Solution” portal in New Delhi. This platform is designed to support unorganised workers by providing easy access to various social security schemes.
Growing Trust in eShram
Mandaviya highlighted the increasing trust in the eShram portal, noting that 60,000 to 90,000 workers join daily. He emphasized that the portal simplifies the registration process and connects workers to government welfare schemes.
Encouragement to Register
The Minister urged unorganised workers to register on eShram to benefit from the wide range of social security initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods.
Integration with State Portals
Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, stressed the importance of integrating state government portals with eShram to ensure comprehensive coverage of welfare schemes.
Facilitating Access to Schemes
Sumita Dawra, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, explained that eShram will facilitate seamless access to government schemes for unorganised workers. The portal consolidates data from various ministries into a single repository.
Key Welfare Schemes
Key schemes like One Nation One Ration Card and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act are integrated with eShram, with more schemes to follow. The portal was launched on August 26, 2021, and has registered over 30 crore workers in three years.
