Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Leads Meeting on Employment Data and Overseas Emigration

In New Delhi, Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, chaired a significant meeting focused on employment data and overseas emigration trends. The meeting, held on Monday, included Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, and involved discussions with the Ministry of External Affairs and NITI Aayog.

The discussions aimed to improve coordination and data collection for overseas employment and domestic job creation. The meeting also focused on monitoring recruiting agencies and understanding skill requirements for jobs abroad. Mandaviya stressed the importance of having complete data on citizens going abroad for work and study in both ECR and non-ECR countries.

He proposed integrating various platforms like the National Career Service (NCS) portal, MY Bharat Platform, MADAD, eMigrate, eShram portals, and state portals to get a comprehensive view of employment supply and demand. Industry associations were encouraged to help gather employment data, and NITI Aayog was highlighted as a key organization to compile data from different ministries.

The meeting also discussed standardizing contracts with foreign employers and reviewing Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangements and Social Security Agreements. NITI Aayog shared insights on employment portals, emphasizing the need for a unified platform to integrate employment data across government schemes.

The government is committed to addressing data gaps, especially in the informal sector, and developing a comprehensive employment data portal to support policy and job creation. The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance employment data coordination, expand overseas job opportunities, and ensure the security of Indian workers abroad. The proposed Unified Employment Data Portal aims to centralize employment data, while integrating eMigrate and NCS will increase access to international job markets.
