Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Criticizes Congress for Minority Affairs Approach
In Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the Congress party, accusing it of transforming the Ministry of Minority Affairs into a Muslim Affairs Ministry to secure votes. Rijiju stated that Congress made a rule allowing only Muslims to chair the National Minority Commission, sidelining other minority communities. He claimed this approach harmed all communities, especially Muslims, by turning them into a vote bank.
Rijiju further alleged that Congress used a divide-and-rule strategy, which he believes has caused harm to both Muslims and the country. He argued that by treating Muslims as a guaranteed vote bank, Congress neglected their needs.
The upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections will see a contest between the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition and the ruling Mahayuti Alliance. The Election Commission of India has yet to announce the poll dates. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 105 seats, while Congress secured 44 seats.
