Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, visited Bhubaneswar Airport to review its development and expansion plans. The goal is to increase the airport’s capacity to 80 lakh passengers per year within the next month.

Current and Future Developments

Naidu expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that Bhubaneswar Airport is currently connected to 20 domestic cities and 4 international cities. The NDA government aims to advance Odisha’s civil aviation sector.

The T1 Terminal currently handles 40 lakh passengers annually. Plans are underway to double this capacity with a new terminal and security reorganization. A new CAT II lighting system will be installed soon, and a T3 Terminal is planned for the next two years.

Enhancing Passenger Experience

A new Link Building between Terminals T1 and T2 at Biju Patnaik International Airport has been completed. This 3360 sqm facility connects the international and domestic terminals, improving passenger convenience and operational efficiency.

Environmental Initiative

As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, Naidu planted a tree at the airport, emphasizing environmental responsibility.
