Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Reviews Development in Tripura
Meeting Highlights
Union Minister for Development of North East Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, held a meeting in Agartala, Tripura, to review Central schemes and projects. The meeting was attended by Tripura’s Chief Minister Manik Saha and other key state ministers.
Focus on Development
Minister Scindia highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in boosting development in the North East, especially in Tripura. He noted the significant increase in budgetary allocations for the region, rising from Rs 24,000 crore during the UPA regime to Rs 1.03 lakh crore under the current government.
Economic Growth in Tripura
Scindia praised Tripura’s rapid development under Chief Minister Saha, with the state’s GSDP reaching Rs 90,000 crore and a growth rate of 9%. He also mentioned the rise in per capita income as a positive sign.
Infrastructure and Connectivity
The Minister emphasized infrastructure improvements, including the construction of 5,500 km of national highways in the last decade and enhanced grant-in-aid for the North East. He assured that railway connectivity for all eight North Eastern states would be achieved soon.
Telecom and Aviation Advancements
Scindia noted the installation of 90 new BSNL 4G towers in Tripura and the region’s increase in airports from 9 to 17. He also expressed satisfaction with India’s swift 5G rollout.
Celebrating Tribal Heritage
Earlier, Scindia attended the PM Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas program, celebrating Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary. He praised Munda’s contributions and highlighted the Modi government’s efforts to uplift tribal communities through various schemes.
