Union Minister JP Nadda Highlights Major Health Achievements in First 100 Days
New Delhi, India – Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, shared the key achievements of the Union Health Ministry in the first 100 days of the government. He announced that around Rs 15 lakh crores have been invested across different ministries.
Expansion of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY Scheme
Nadda revealed that the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY scheme will now include all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, benefiting around 6 crore individuals. This expanded scheme will be implemented from October this year.
U-WIN Portal for Vaccination Services
The U-WIN Portal has been developed for the digitisation of vaccination records for pregnant women and children. The portal offers ‘Anytime Access’ and ‘Anywhere’ vaccination services, self-registration, automated SMS alerts, and universal QR-based eVaccination Certificates. It is available in 11 regional languages and has already registered 6.46 crore beneficiaries.
National TB Elimination Programme
A new treatment regimen under the National TB Elimination Programme will reduce treatment duration from 9-12 months to 6 months. The Union Health Ministry is preparing a rollout plan for this new regimen, which is expected to benefit approximately 75,000 DRTB cases.
BHISHM Cubes for Emergency Care
BHISHM Cubes are portable medical facilities designed for emergency situations. They will be placed in 25 AIIMS and Institutes of National Importance for rapid deployment. India has also gifted four BHISHM Cubes to Ukraine.
Drone Services for Medical Supplies
Drones will be used for the rapid delivery of medical supplies in hard-to-reach areas. Trials and training have been completed in 12 institutes, and 15 AIIMS/INIs/NE institutions have been identified for this service.
Increase in Medical Colleges and Seats
There has been an increase in the number of medical colleges and MBBS seats. The number of medical colleges has risen from 706 in 2023-24 to 766 in 2024-25, and MBBS seats have increased from 1,08,940 to 1,15,812 in the same period.
