Union Minister Jitendra Singh Defends Budget, Highlights Benefits for Tamil Nadu
Union Minister Jitendra Singh described the Union Budget as ‘futuristic’ and dismissed allegations that the Centre did not allocate enough funds to southern states like Tamil Nadu. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu received the highest budget for railways and has six Vande Bharat trains, the most in the country.
Speaking at a BJP interaction program in Tamil Nadu, Singh emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special regard for Tamil culture, stating, ‘The PM loves Tamil people and Tamil culture. He has a special place for Tamil Nadu in his heart.’
Singh refuted claims by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin that the budget was a vengeful act against states that did not support the BJP. He asserted that Tamil Nadu is receiving equal or more benefits compared to other states.
Singh also highlighted the budget’s focus on startups, employment, and women’s empowerment. He mentioned the removal of the Angel Tax and the opening of public-private partnerships in the space sector, predicting significant growth in India’s space economy.
After opposition leaders, including CM MK Stalin, boycotted the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by PM Modi, Union MoS L Murugan criticized Stalin’s actions as a ‘total failure of democracy.’ Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin accused Congress of engaging in ‘appeasement politics’ by boycotting the meeting.
The 9th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting, held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, focused on the theme ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ and discussed the Approach Paper for the Vision Document on making India a developed nation by 2047.
Meanwhile, the DMK staged state-wide protests against the Union Budget, alleging that Tamil Nadu was neglected. CM MK Stalin accused the BJP government of acting vengefully against states that boycotted the BJP.
