Kargil Vijay Diwas: Honoring India’s Brave Soldiers
New Delhi, India – Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that Kargil Vijay Diwas reminds us of India’s unity during border challenges. He said, “Kargil Vijay Diwas is a symbol of the fact that whenever India’s borders and sovereignty have faced any challenge, the nation has stood united.”
Singh highlighted policy changes under Prime Minister Modi, including increased defense budgets and India’s status as a defense exporter. He was speaking on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated every year on July 26 to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the soldiers and laid a wreath at the Kargil War Memorial. He also initiated the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project virtually.
President Droupadi Murmu paid tribute to the soldiers, praising their courage and valour. In a post on X, she urged all countrymen to draw inspiration from the soldiers’ sacrifice and bravery.
Kargil Vijay Diwas marks the success of Operation Vijay in 1999, where Indian forces reclaimed strategic positions in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistani soldiers and terrorists.
