In Channapatna, Karnataka, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy launched a strong critique against Congress candidate CP Yogeshwara ahead of the bye-election for the Channapatna assembly seat. Speaking at a rally for NDA candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy in Chekkere, Kumaraswamy questioned Yogeshwara’s ability to develop the constituency, citing his failure to improve his hometown of Chekkere.

Kumaraswamy highlighted the development work done under his leadership and criticized Yogeshwara’s past alliances, noting his previous criticism of the DK brothers, with whom he is now allied. He addressed accusations of being an outsider to Ramanagara, emphasizing his upbringing in the district and his commitment to its people.

He challenged Yogeshwara’s record as an MLA over the past 20 years, urging voters to examine the evidence of his achievements. Kumaraswamy accused the Congress of using vote-buying tactics and encouraged voters to make informed decisions.

He also mentioned the support of young people in Chekkere for Nikhil’s campaign and recounted his own political journey, including his resignation from Channapatna due to obligations in Mandya. Kumaraswamy criticized the Congress candidate’s defection and accused them of spreading false information.

Several state BJP leaders, including Opposition Leader R Ashoka and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwathnarayan, supported Kumaraswamy’s campaign.
