Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy Criticizes Congress Over Waqf Issue in Karnataka

In Channapatna, Karnataka, Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy accused the Congress government of using the Waqf issue to divert attention from other scandals. During his election campaign, he claimed the government is engaging in divisive politics, favoring one community over another. Kumaraswamy warned that this could lead to major conflicts, which the Congress might exploit politically.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged that Waqf’s name was added to land records for 44 properties in Vijayapura district without proper notice. Farmers are concerned about losing ancestral land due to sudden changes in land records. Former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai demanded the withdrawal of notices to farmers and a thorough examination of state records. He accused the government of misusing Waqf laws and disrupting rural harmony, leading to communal discord.
