Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy has accused Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of conspiring to tarnish his image. Kumaraswamy announced that he will reveal the details of this conspiracy on Saturday.

Addressing the Media

Speaking to the media after appearing before the Lokayukta, Kumaraswamy explained that he was there in connection with a complaint filed by Jaya Kumar Hiremutt in 2015, during Siddaramaiah’s previous term as Chief Minister. Kumaraswamy criticized Siddaramaiah for frequently mentioning his name and demanding his resignation.

“Siddaramaiah has no moral right to criticize the Prime Minister by taking his name frequently. Every day, Siddaramaiah is also taking my name unnecessarily, saying that I’m on bail. In 2015, Siddaramaiah wanted to tarnish my image by conspiring with a few police officials. There’s no subject to take action against me. Siddaramaiah is demanding my resignation now but what was his government doing for the last 12 years? Why has your government not been conducting a thorough investigation with your SIT? Why are you delaying the investigation? Siddaramaiah has again instructed ADGP Chandrashekhar to pursue the case who appeared before the governor requesting my prosecution. I will expose Chandrashekhar’s background too,” Kumaraswamy said.

Lokayukta Investigation

Kumaraswamy appeared before the Lokayukta police for questioning related to a land denotification case. He stated that the complaint has been pending since 2015 without any investigation. He accused Siddaramaiah’s government of filing false complaints to embarrass him.

FIR Against Siddaramaiah

Earlier, the Lokayukta Police filed an FIR against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others in connection with the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment scam. The FIR includes various sections of the Indian Penal Code and names Siddaramaiah, his wife, and his brother-in-law among the accused.

Snehamayi Krishna, one of the complainants in the MUDA scam, has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The matter is expected to be heard on September 30.

Special Court’s Order

The Special Court in Bengaluru has directed the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate the allegations of illegal land allotment by MUDA to Siddaramaiah’s wife. The Lokayukta’s Mysuru district police will conduct the investigation and submit a report in three months.

Siddaramaiah’s Response

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has reiterated that he will not resign over the alleged MUDA land allotment scam. He accused the opposition of trying to destabilize his government. “I will not resign. HD Kumaraswamy is a minister; he is on bail after an FIR was lodged against him. He is a minister in the Narendra Modi government. It’s a politics by them to destabilize our government; that is why they are doing it,” Siddaramaiah told reporters.

It is alleged that MUDA illegally allotted 14 sites to Siddaramaiah’s wife in a prime location in Mysuru city. Recently, the Karnataka government withdrew open consent for the CBI to conduct a probe in the state.
