Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, held a meeting with top officials of Hindustan Machine and Tools (HMT) Company in Bengaluru. The meeting included discussions with the company’s Chairman and Managing Director Rajesh Kohli and other senior officials.

Key Discussions

During the meeting, Minister Kumaraswamy reviewed the company’s turnover, net profit, and other key metrics. He discussed the financial, production, and operational conditions of HMT, which is currently facing significant challenges.

Revival Plans

The Minister emphasized the need to strengthen HMT and instructed Rajesh Kohli to submit a proposal to the central government for necessary support. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) initiative as a framework for HMT’s revival and encouraged officials to adopt this vision.

Challenges and Support

Chairman Rajesh Kohli outlined various problems HMT is facing, including financial crises, lawsuits, and overall losses. He stressed the need for central government intervention. In response, Minister Kumaraswamy promised to address these challenges and assured central government assistance.

Senior officials, including Kolar MP Mallesh Babu and company director Samina Kohli, were also present at the meeting.
