Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Discusses Global Oil Supply and India’s Biofuel Leadership
In New Delhi, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, assured that the global oil supply remains secure. He highlighted that countries like Brazil, the US, and Canada are increasing their oil production. Puri stated, “Major consuming countries are not likely to face any shortfall of supplies.” Brazil is adding 300,000 to 400,000 more barrels per day, and the US and Canada are also expected to increase their output.
Puri expressed optimism about oil availability, citing contributions from major oil-producing nations. He also discussed India’s progress in biofuel and clean energy. He emphasized the importance of stable oil availability and predictable prices for economic growth, warning that geopolitical risks could disrupt shipping routes and increase costs.
Highlighting India’s leadership in sustainable energy, Puri mentioned the Global Biofuel Alliance, which now includes 28 countries and 12 international organizations. He sees the alliance as a key platform for green energy transition, with more countries expected to join.
