Union Minister Giriraj Singh Criticizes Mamata Banerjee Over Kolkata Doctor’s Tragic Death
Union Minister Giriraj Singh has strongly criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling her the most dangerous politician who wants to stay in power even by selling out the country. He accused her of lacking emotions and sensitivity towards women.
The criticism follows the brutal rape and murder of a trainee woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of the hospital on August 9, sparking widespread protests in West Bengal and across the country.
The incident has led to a war of words between the BJP and the state government, with the BJP demanding Mamata Banerjee’s resignation. On Monday, the Supreme Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to file a fresh status report by next week in connection with the case.
The mother of the deceased doctor accused Mamata Banerjee of lying about offering financial compensation. She stated, “The Chief Minister is lying. My daughter will not return. Would I lie in her name? The Chief Minister told us that we would receive money and suggested that we create something in our daughter’s memory. I responded that I would come to her office to collect the money once my daughter gets justice.”
Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has been arrested in connection with the incident. Additionally, on September 2, the Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI arrested Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, along with three others, over alleged corruption and financial misconduct. Ghosh has been remanded to 8-day police custody, and the next hearing of the case is scheduled for September 10.
