Union Minister Giriraj Singh and BJP MP Manoj Tiwari Flag Off ‘Bharat in Paris’ Olympic Marathon in Delhi

New Delhi [India], July 14: Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari started the ‘Bharat in Paris’ Olympic marathon to raise awareness about sports in Delhi on Sunday.

Creating Awareness

Speaking about the event, Giriraj Singh said, “A marathon was organised to create awareness about ‘Bharat in Paris Olympics.’ India stands in the third position in these games.”

He also encouraged parents to motivate their children to participate in sports along with their studies. He mentioned that nearly Rs 4,000 crores are being allocated to promote sports in the country.

Upcoming Paris Olympics

The 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. A total of 113 Indian athletes have qualified for the Olympics this year.

Earlier, former Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur started the campaign with a short marathon at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on June 23.

‘Bharat in Paris’ Campaign

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has launched the ‘Bharat in Paris’ campaign to promote sports across India ahead of the Paris Olympics. The mascot for the Paris Olympic 2024 is Olympic Phryge, based on the Phrygian cap. The official slogan for the 2024 Olympics is ‘Games Wide Open.’
