Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, along with his wife, visited the Lord Jagannath Temple in Angul district, Odisha, to offer prayers on Saturday.

Preparations are underway for the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra, scheduled for July 7. Puri District Magistrate Siddharth Shankar Swain mentioned that President Droupadi Murmu will visit Puri on the day of the chariot pulling.

Swain noted, “This year is unique as all three important rituals fall on the same day. It’s both challenging and a privilege. All departments are ready, and we’ve had several coordination meetings.”

A 225-bed super specialty hospital has been set up at both ends of the grand road for the Rath Yatra. Massive police deployment and 28 parking places have been arranged for visitors. Public amenities at transit points are also planned for people coming from different districts and states.

The chariot preparations are in the final stage and expected to be completed in a couple of days. The Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot Festival, is as old as the Jagannath Temple in Puri. Celebrated globally, it marks the journey of the Holy Trinity to their maternal aunt, Goddess Gundicha Devi’s Temple, and their return after eight days.
