In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed his confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win the Haryana Assembly elections for the third time. He stated, “A very good election campaign has just finished in Haryana. I returned from Haryana the day before yesterday. I am fully confident that BJP is coming to power again for the third time. The people of Haryana have love and confidence for PM Modi and the BJP.”

Pradhan also paid tribute to Baji Rout, the youngest freedom fighter, on his birth anniversary. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to honor forgotten freedom fighters, mentioning Baji Rout’s sacrifice at the age of 12 during the Praja Mandal movement against British rule.

Haryana Assembly Elections

Voting in Haryana is taking place from 7 am to 6 pm, with 1,031 candidates contesting across 90 assembly constituencies. A total of 20,632 polling booths have been set up. The results will be announced on October 8, alongside those of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer, Pankaj Agarwal, 2,03,54,350 voters, including 1,07,75,957 males, 95,77,926 females, and 467 third-gender voters, are expected to cast their votes. Security measures include the deployment of 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 home guards, and 10,403 Special Police Officers (SPO) to ensure safe voting.

Key Figures and Alliances

Manohar Lal Khattar served as Haryana’s Chief Minister for around 9.5 years, succeeded by Nayab Singh Saini, who is leading the BJP in the elections and contesting from the Ladwa constituency. Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, a prominent figure, joined the Congress party along with Bajrang Punia after her disqualification from the Paris Olympics.

The JJP-ASP alliance is contesting all 90 constituencies, with JJP fielding candidates in 70 seats and ASP in 20. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 40 seats, forming a coalition with JJP, which won 10 seats, while Congress secured 31 seats. The JJP later left the coalition.
