Union Minister CR Paatil Celebrates Ganga Utsav 2024 in Haridwar

On November 4, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, CR Paatil, attended the Ganga Utsav 2024 at Chandi Ghat in Haridwar. This event, organized under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), highlights the Ganga River’s importance as a water source and cultural symbol.

During the event, Paatil expressed condolences for the victims of the Almora bus accident, stating, “Ganga is the lifeline of our country, not just because it provides water, but also because it is the center of our religion and culture.”

The Ganga Utsav marks the anniversary of the Ganga River being declared the “National River.” This year’s celebration is the eighth edition and the first to be held on the riverbanks. Events are planned across 139 districts in the Ganga basin, with each state organizing a main event.

A session titled ‘Ganga Samvad’ will feature discussions among prominent figures and leaders to inspire youth in river conservation. A technical session will address river rejuvenation issues. The festival also includes ‘Ghat Par Haat’ and stalls showcasing the Namami Gange initiative.

The festival aims to strengthen people’s connection with the Ganga, promote conservation, and raise awareness about cleanliness to prevent river pollution.
