Union Minister Chirag Paswan Urges PM Modi for Bihar’s Special Status
Patna (Bihar) [India], June 30: Union Minister Chirag Paswan emphasized the need for Bihar to receive special status, stating that it is a long-standing demand. He expressed confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, the largest party in the NDA, to address this issue.
Paswan highlighted that the current provisions do not allow for special status but suggested changes to fulfill the demand. He said, “The status should be given. It is our hope. We will also discuss the provisions that need to be changed so that we can fulfill the long-standing demand of Biharis.”
Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan have similar demands. The central government has the option to grant additional financial aid packages to states with revenue deficits and resource gaps.
