Union Minister Bhupender Yadav Highlights India’s Renewable Energy Goals at Global Meet in Gandhinagar

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav stated that India is progressing by balancing ecology and economy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He made these remarks at the fourth Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet (RE-INVEST 2024) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Yadav said, “Under the leadership of PM Modi, our nation is moving forward keeping ecology and economy together. A lot of work is being done to increase the capacity and market of renewable energy and provide clean energy to future generations.”

The three-day conference, which concluded on Wednesday, was inaugurated by PM Modi on September 16. Hosted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the event drew over 10,000 delegates, including key figures from government, industry, and financial sectors.

International partners for this year’s event included Australia, Denmark, Germany, and Norway. Indian states such as Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh also participated actively. High-level delegations from the US, UK, Belgium, the European Union, Oman, UAE, Singapore, and Hong Kong attended, with some led by ministers from Germany and Denmark.

The conference featured 44 sessions, including a Chief Ministerial Plenary, a CEO Roundtable, and discussions on renewable energy innovations and opportunities. Noteworthy sessions addressed the role of women in accelerating energy transitions and provided a platform for start-ups, including pitches by the ten winners of the Solar X Challenge.

The central theme of RE-INVEST 2024 was Mission 500 GW, highlighting India’s goal to significantly expand its renewable energy capacity by 2030. As the 4th largest country globally in installed renewable energy capacity, India aims to further consolidate its leadership in the global energy transition.

RE-INVEST’s inaugural edition was held in February 2015 in New Delhi, followed by subsequent editions in October 2018 in Delhi NCR, and a virtual edition in November 2020.
