Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s Speech in Parliament

New Delhi, July 29: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw criticized Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his speech in the Lok Sabha, accusing him of undermining democracy and the Constitution. Vaishnaw said, “It is sad that Rahul Gandhi’s behavior as the leader of the opposition and the language he uses in Parliament, questioning the constitutional post of the Lok Sabha Speaker, is an action to undermine democracy and the Constitution.”

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also condemned Gandhi’s speech, calling it irresponsible. Rijiju stated, “In the Lok Sabha, the way LoP Rahul Gandhi attacked the Speaker and spoke beyond the rules, I condemn it. Being the Leader of the Opposition is a responsibility, but he is being irresponsible.”

This criticism came after Rahul Gandhi drew parallels from the Mahabharata and attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Union Budget. Gandhi claimed that there is an atmosphere of fear in the country and criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for prominently displaying the lotus symbol, which he linked to a ‘Chakravyuh’ or trap.

During his speech, Gandhi said, “There is an atmosphere of fear, dar ka mahool hai Hindustan main. My friends are smiling but they are also scared. Budget par hi bol raha hu sir. Sir, you see the problem in the BJP: only one man is allowed to dream of being Prime Minister.”

Intervening during Gandhi’s speech, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reminded him to follow the rules and regulations of the House. Gandhi responded by offering to omit certain names from his speech if required.
