Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and PM Modi Celebrate Raksha Bandhan with Special Events
In Bikaner, Rajasthan, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal celebrated Raksha Bandhan by having a group of women tie rakhis on his wrist. He mentioned plans to visit a Border Security Force (BSF) outpost to celebrate the festival with soldiers stationed there. Meghwal said, “Raksha Bandhan is an auspicious occasion. We celebrated it at home and now we are going to the border at the BSF outpost.” He added that the women’s wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party would tie rakhis on the wrists of BSF jawans who couldn’t go home for the festival.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Raksha Bandhan with school girls tying rakhis on his wrist in the national capital. PM Modi greeted people on the occasion and prayed for everyone’s happiness and prosperity. He posted on X, “Best wishes to all countrymen on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a festival symbolizing the immense love between brother and sister. May this holy festival bring new sweetness in the relationships of all of you and happiness, prosperity and good fortune in life.”
President Droupadi Murmu also extended greetings on the festival that celebrates the bond between siblings. In a post on X, she said, “On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. This festival, based on the feeling of love and mutual trust between brothers and sisters, instills a feeling of affection and respect towards all sisters and daughters.” She urged citizens to take a pledge to ensure the safety and respect of women in society.
