Union Health Minister JP Nadda Launches Training Program for Street Food Vendors in New Delhi
Union Health Minister JP Nadda attended the launch of a portal and guidelines at the Training and Awareness Programme for Street Food Vendors in New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning for vendors, stating that staying open to new knowledge is crucial for business growth.
Nadda said, “In this training, we got the opportunity to know how the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is working with you to empower you.” He added that learning in life never ends and encouraged vendors to be determined to learn as it will help their business grow.
FSSAI trained more than 1000 street food vendors under the Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) program at Vigyan Bhawan. The training focused on enhancing the knowledge and practices of street food vendors regarding food safety.
Nadda also spoke about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to empower every individual, explaining that empowerment means performing work well after being trained. He highlighted the difference between trained and untrained individuals, noting that training can help expand businesses and reap benefits.
During the program, street vendors received testing kits for oil, milk, and other food items. Nadda mentioned that these kits would help vendors ensure the quality of their ingredients.
He also discussed the PM SVANidhi scheme, which provides affordable loans to street vendors. Nadda stated that loans amounting to Rs 8,600 crore have been granted under the scheme, leading to improved businesses and positive results.
Nadda concluded by expressing confidence that street food vendors will develop and contribute to a developed India, or ‘Viksit Bharat.’
