Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Celebrates Sambalpuri Day and Honors Scholar Satya Narayan Bohidar

New Delhi [India], August 1: Union Education Minister and BJP MP from Sambalpur, Dharmendra Pradhan, greeted everyone on the occasion of ‘Sambalpuri Din’ (Sambalpuri Day). He also paid tribute to the famous Sambalpuri literature scholar Satya Narayan Bohidar on his birth anniversary.

Pradhan praised Bohidar’s dedication and sacrifices in enhancing the dignity of Sambalpuri language, culture, and literature. Taking to the social media platform X, he said, “Tribute to late guru Shri Satyanarayan Bohidar, a famous Sambalpuri literature scholar, on the occasion of his birth anniversary.”

In another video on his social media platform X, Pradhan talked about the importance of Sambalpuri culture and appealed to people to take forward this language and culture. He said, “Today is August 1; today is Sambalpuri Din; greetings to all on this special day.”

Pradhan emphasized that celebrating Sambalpuri Din on Bohidar’s birthday will spread the Sambalpuri language and culture around the world. He thanked personalities and organizations in Odisha for their efforts in promoting Sambalpuri culture.

He highlighted the work of the BJP government in building the Rangabati Centre of Excellence at IIM Sambalpur for research on Sambalpur history and culture. He said, “Under the leadership of the Narendra Modi government, a centre for excellence was opened at IIM Sambalpur for research on Sambalpur history and culture. This is a moment of joy and pride.”

Pradhan concluded by urging everyone to celebrate Sambalpuri Din and work together to promote Sambalpuri language and culture, stating that this would be the real tribute to the poet.

Sambalpuri Din marks the birth anniversary of Guru Satyanarayan Bohidar, whose contributions and dedication to the promotion of the dialect through his books gave the Western Odisha language a specific identity. Bohidar was born on August 1, 1913, in Sonepur, then undivided Sambalpur.
