Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior BJP leader, Uma Bharti, visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain on the first Monday of the holy Sawan month. She offered prayers inside the sanctum sanctorum and later sat in the Nandi hall, deeply immersed in devotion.

Bharti extended her wishes to everyone on this auspicious occasion, expressing her happiness over the temple’s arrangements. She noted that the arrangements ensured everyone could have darshan without any discrimination or difficulty.

Bharti also mentioned her joy that a local, CM Mohan Yadav, is now the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. She prayed for the welfare of everyone in the country and across the globe.

Sawan is a special month in Hindu mythology, believed to be when Lord Shiva consumed poison to save the universe. Devotees fast and offer prayers to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings during this period. Common practices include fasting on Mondays, chanting Shiva mantras, singing bhajans, and performing Rudrabhishek.

This year, Sawan begins on July 22 and ends on August 19.
