Udhayanidhi Stalin Inaugurates New Football Pitch in Chennai
The Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, officially opened the newly renovated football pitch at the JLNS B Ground in Chennai. This project was a joint effort between the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and Chennaiyin FC.
During the ceremony, Vita Dani, co-owner of Chennaiyin FC, presented Stalin with a special memento, the team’s first home jersey for the 2024-25 season. Stalin also met with Chennaiyin FC’s head coach, Owen Coyle, and interacted with the players. He inaugurated the pitch by scoring a penalty shot.
Chennaiyin FC is gearing up for the Indian Super League 2024-25 season, starting on September 13, 2024. The team recently signed 26-year-old defender Vignesh Dakshinamurthy on a four-year deal. Vignesh, who has played for Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC, expressed his excitement about joining Chennaiyin FC.
Head coach Owen Coyle welcomed Vignesh, praising his talent and versatility. Vignesh has a rich career history, including playing for Bengaluru’s Ozone FC and representing India in the 2018 SAFF Championship.
