Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai Ensures Safety and Comfort

The Udhampur district administration is gearing up for the Amarnath Yatra, which begins on June 29. Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai has confirmed that adequate bedding arrangements have been made in lodgement centers, four new toilet complexes are being built, and sanitation is ensured.

Security measures are also in place for the safe movement of pilgrims. E-KYC centers have been set up at the Udhampur Railway Station for on-site registration, and necessary security clearances for ‘langar’ volunteers have been completed.

On Saturday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the ‘Pratham Puja’ of Amarnath virtually from Raj Bhawan in Srinagar, marking the start of the annual pilgrimage. He emphasized the importance of faith and unity and assured that all necessary facilities and security arrangements are in place for the devotees.

The Amarnath Yatra, a significant pilgrimage for Hindus, will run from June 29 to August 19. The challenging trek to the Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees each year, making security a critical concern. The administration is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the pilgrims amidst heightened security concerns and the challenging terrain.
