Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena Announces Candidates for Maharashtra Elections
The Shiv Sena faction led by Uddhav Thackeray has unveiled its first list of 65 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Aaditya Thackeray will once again contest from the Worli constituency. A notable contest is between Kedhar Dighe, nephew of Anand Dighe, and Chief Minister Eknath Sindhe in the Kopri-Panchpakhadi constituency. Anand Dighe was a mentor to Eknath Sindhe.
Other candidates include Sunil Raut from Vikroli, Rajan Vichare from Than, Dipesh Mhatre from Dombivli, and Vaishali Sooryavanshi from Pachora. On the same day, Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) released its list of 38 candidates. Ajit Pawar will contest from Baramati, with other candidates like Chhagan Bhujbal from Yeola and Dilip Walse Patil from Ambegaon.
The NCP has also fielded Hiraman Khoskar from Igatpuri and Shulbha Khodke from Amravati, both former Congress members who recently joined the NCP. The elections are set for November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. In previous elections, the BJP and Shiv Sena have been strong contenders, with the BJP winning 105 seats in 2019.
