UAE’s TDRA Hosts ‘Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’ Forum on International Youth Day

Abu Dhabi [UAE], August 11: The Telecommunications & Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), represented by TDRA Youth Council, organized the ‘Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’ forum to celebrate International Youth Day on August 12. This event aligns with the UAE government’s ‘Year of Sustainability 2024’ initiative, ‘Plan to Action’.

Opening Speech by TDRA’s Director-General

Engineer Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, TDRA’s Director-General, opened the forum with a speech highlighting the UAE’s commitment to youth and their role in the country’s sustainable future. He emphasized the connection between digitization and sustainability, noting the UAE’s history of pioneering digital government services, such as the e-Dirham in 2001 and the smart government initiative in 2013. He also mentioned the Zero Government Bureaucracy (ZGB) programme, which aims to eliminate 2,000 government measures in 2024.

Empowering Youth in the Digital Sphere

Eng. Mohammed Bushlaibi, Chairman of Youth Council and Manager of Information Security Services at TDRA, discussed TDRA’s strategy to empower youth with digital skills. He highlighted initiatives like the TDRA Virtual Camp, which focuses on sustainability, game development, programming, and ChatGPT.

Youth-Led Debate

The forum included a youth-led debate on initiatives by the Federal Youth Authority (FYA) to enhance dialogue skills, persuasion, and research among young people. The debate focused on key government trends, including the ZGB programme.

The event was attended by representatives from various youth councils and government bodies, including the Community Development Authority (CDA), Dubai Municipality, Islamic Affairs & Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD), Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE), RAK Educational Zone, and the Prime Minister’s Office.
