UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure Launches New Platform to Simplify Road Work Approvals

The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) in the UAE has introduced the Federal Roads Service Platform to make it easier to issue and renew No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for road works. This initiative is part of the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme, which aims to cut down on unnecessary paperwork and speed up government procedures.

Key Features of the New Platform

Mohamed Almail, Assistant Undersecretary for the Federal Infrastructure Assets Sector at MoEI, explained that the platform aims to improve customer experience by reducing bureaucracy. The platform:

  • Reduces the number of required documents from eight to three for issuing NOCs.
  • Cuts down the procedures from 26 to 13 for issuing NOCs.
  • Shortens the service time from 14 to seven days for issuing NOCs.
  • For renewing NOCs, reduces procedures from 11 to three and makes the service instant with no need for documents.

Engaging with the Community

The Federal Infrastructure Assets Sector at MoEI hosted three gatherings with customers and private sector representatives to shape future services that meet their needs.

About the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme

Launched in early 2024, the Zero Government Bureaucracy programme aims to overhaul the current government work structure to enhance service efficiency and quality. The programme seeks to eliminate redundant procedures, significantly simplifying the administrative process. By the end of 2024, the programme aims to cancel at least 2,000 government measures, halve the time required for procedures, and remove all unnecessary bureaucracy.
