UAE’s Big Hopes for Paris 2024 Olympics: Aiming for More Medals

Faris Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), shared the UAE’s high ambitions for the Paris 2024 Olympics. He emphasized the importance of creating a positive image that reflects the UAE’s progress and achievements.

Al Mutawa praised Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the NOC, for his inspiring speech. He encouraged athletes to follow the example of national sports models who have proudly represented the UAE on international podiums.

Al Mutawa stated, “Ambitions are renewed with every participation, and the ultimate goal remains the name and status of the country on the global sports map.” He highlighted the UAE’s success at the last Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where they won 20 medals, and expressed the desire to surpass this achievement in future events like the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

On July 27, Mohammed bin Thaloub Al Darei, President of the UAE Judo Federation, praised the NOC’s leadership under Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He looked forward to a positive participation in the Paris 2024 Olympics, marking the fifth consecutive participation of UAE judo since the 2008 Beijing Games.

Al Darei recalled the historic bronze medal win by UAE judo player Toma in the under-81 kg category at the Rio 2016 Olympics, which was the first Olympic achievement for UAE judo. This accomplishment earned Toma a place in the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Dubai.
