UAE Shines at 10th IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Armenia

The Federal National Council Parliamentary Division of the UAE participated in the Tenth IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians held from September 12 to 14, 2024, in Yerevan, Armenia.

Key Initiatives Highlighted

During Session 3, FNC member Majid Al Mazrouei discussed the UAE’s significant achievements in various initiatives:

  • Education for All: Provides free or subsidised education to ensure everyone has the opportunity to learn.
  • Window of Hope: Focuses on training and employing people with disabilities in the job market.
  • Youth Empowerment: Encourages entrepreneurship and provides financial support and training to young people to launch their own projects.

Al Mazrouei emphasized the challenges faced by vulnerable and marginalized groups in accessing education and employment, citing economic and social factors. He called for the development of inclusive employment policies and training programs to help these groups compete in the modern digital economy.

Leadership in Crisis

FNC member Sarah Mohammed Falaknaz, Vice Chair of the UAE Parliamentary Division at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), chaired Session 5 titled ‘Unconference.’ Young parliamentarians led discussions on education and employment during crises, voting on topics like leveraging education for national development and safeguarding education in conflict zones.

Global Participation

Co-organized by the IPU and the National Assembly of Armenia, the three-day conference gathered over 300 young parliamentarians from around 150 countries. The theme, ‘Avoiding lost generations: Safeguarding education and employment in all circumstances,’ focused on ensuring uninterrupted access to education and creating job opportunities for young people.
