UAE Sends Aid to Lebanese Refugees and Returning Syrians in Syria
Abu Dhabi, UAE – An aircraft from the UAE has delivered urgent relief packages to Lebanese refugees in Syria and Syrians returning home. This effort is part of the ‘UAE Stands with Lebanon’ campaign, showcasing the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian support. Since October 4, the UAE has sent 14 aircraft, with 12 going to Lebanon and two to Syria.
The initiative follows the directives of President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and guidance from key leaders like Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to helping the Lebanese people, emphasizing the nation’s values of solidarity and cooperation.
The UAE plans to send 40 tonnes of additional food supplies to Lebanese refugees in Syria and returning Syrians. The Emirates Red Crescent, in coordination with the UAE Aid Coordination Office in Syria, is managing the delivery of these supplies. The International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council oversees the aid distribution, working with humanitarian institutions and Emirati charities.
