UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Meets Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides in Abu Dhabi
President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE and President Nikos Christodoulides of Cyprus met in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral cooperation and explore opportunities to strengthen strategic relations, particularly in the economic and developmental sectors.
Strengthening Bilateral Relations
The UAE President welcomed the President of Cyprus and extended his best wishes for a constructive visit. Both leaders reviewed UAE-Cyprus relations and joint efforts to advance ties, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and energy.
Regional and International Issues
The two leaders exchanged views on several regional and international issues of common interest, focusing on developments in the Middle East. They emphasized the importance of working to de-escalate tensions in the region to avoid further instability and stressed the need for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to resolve global conflicts.
Humanitarian Aid to Gaza
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Nikos Christodoulides discussed cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip through the Amalthea maritime corridor initiative. They underscored the importance of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to provide adequate, unimpeded, and sustainable humanitarian support to its residents. Al Nahyan expressed appreciation for Cyprus’ efforts in facilitating humanitarian aid to Gaza and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Cyprus and other partners in these efforts.
