UAE Evacuates Sick Palestinians from Israel to Abu Dhabi for Urgent Medical Care
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced an urgent initiative to evacuate 85 sick Palestinians, including cancer patients, and 63 family members from Ramon airport in Israel to Abu Dhabi via the Karam Abu Salem crossing.
Reem Al Hashimy, UAE’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, stated, “At this critical time, the urgency of our mission to evacuate injured Palestinians to Abu Dhabi cannot be overstated. This unprecedented route reflects the gravity of the situation and our resolute commitment to alleviating the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip.”
She added that the UAE has welcomed 709 patients and 787 family members from Gaza for medical treatment, following directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, to care for 2,000 injured and cancer patients from Gaza.
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), expressed gratitude for the UAE’s support, hoping it paves the way for more evacuation corridors. He also called for a ceasefire to alleviate the suffering of thousands of sick people.
Reem Al Hashimy highlighted the UAE’s extensive aid efforts, including over 40,000 tonnes of crucial aid delivered through various means. The fourth UAE relief ship recently arrived in Al-Arish, carrying 5,340 tonnes of humanitarian supplies, marking the largest shipment since the launch of the relief operations.
