The General Women’s Union (GWU) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, recently concluded a two-day international training programme focused on empowering women in cybersecurity governance and diplomacy. This event was held in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union and the UAE Cybersecurity Council.

Programme Details

Under the patronage of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the programme took place at the GWU headquarters. It was designed to equip women with the skills needed to become leaders in national cybersecurity governance. Participants included female policymakers, professionals in peace and security, and women in technical fields from 22 countries.

Training Focus

The training covered various topics such as current cybersecurity threats, AI risks, and national resilience strategies. It also provided insights into developing national cybersecurity strategies and understanding international cyber diplomacy.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of GWU, emphasized the UAE’s leadership in cybersecurity and the importance of empowering women in technology. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, praised the programme’s success and thanked Sheikha Fatima for her support.
