UAE and Japan Strengthen Ties in Political Diplomacy Meeting

On October 10, senior officials from the United Arab Emirates and Japan held a virtual meeting for the second session of the subcommittee on political diplomacy and international cooperation. This meeting is part of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative announced in 2022. The session was chaired by Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs from the UAE, and Ando Toshihide, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director-General of the Middle East and Africa Bureau from Japan.

Lana Nusseibeh highlighted the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries. Both sides reviewed the progress made in recent years to deepen their ties. They welcomed the start of CEPA negotiations, aiming for a successful economic partnership agreement to enhance trade, investment, and cooperation.

The meeting also focused on regional issues, including conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Sudan. Both countries committed to promoting international peace and security, emphasizing dialogue to resolve conflicts and improve stability, in line with the United Nations Charter. They discussed protecting civilians in conflict zones and delivering humanitarian aid.

Both nations reaffirmed their leaders’ commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship for the benefit of their people.
