Two Terrorists Killed in Kulgam Encounter: DIG Javed Ahmad Matoo Provides Details
In Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, two terrorists were killed in an encounter with police, according to officials. DIG Javed Ahmad Matoo stated that DNA samples were collected to identify the bodies, and arms and ammunition, including 2 AK 47 rifles and 5 magazines, were recovered from the site.
One of the terrorists is suspected to be Umesh Ahmed Wani, a resident of Chawalgam village, who joined The Resistance Front (TRF) in 2020 and was active in multiple districts. The other terrorist, Aqib Sher Gojri, joined TRF in 2022 and was involved in various terrorist activities.
During the encounter, three army personnel and one police officer were injured, but their conditions are stable. The incident occurred amid the ongoing assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, with the third phase scheduled for October 1 and vote counting on October 8.
