Two Security Personnel Killed and Four Injured in Naxal IED Blast in Bijapur
In Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, two security personnel lost their lives, and four were injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast triggered by naxals. The incident was confirmed by Bastar Police on Thursday.
Details of the Incident
On July 16, 2024, teams from STF, DRG, CoBRA, and CRPF launched a joint operation based on intelligence about the presence of naxals in the border area between Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma. The security personnel were returning from the search operation when the blast occurred on July 17, 2024.
The deceased were identified as Constable Bharat Sahu from Raipur and Constable Satyer Singh Kange from Narayanpur. Additional security forces have been deployed to the area, and the injured personnel are receiving necessary medical treatment.
Significant Anti-Naxal Operation
On Wednesday, security forces conducted a major offensive in Wandoli Village on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border. This operation led to the deaths of 12 naxals and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, including seven automatic firearms. The operation was led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Operations) and involved seven C60 parties.
During the encounter, one police sub-inspector and one jawan sustained bullet injuries but are reported to be out of danger after being evacuated to Nagpur.
