Two Boys Drown in Delhi’s Siraspur Underpass Amid Heavy Rain
Two boys tragically drowned near the rainwater-flooded Siraspur underpass in northwest Delhi’s Samaypur Badli area on Saturday. The police received a call about the incident at 2:25 PM. Upon arrival, they found the underpass flooded with 2.5-3 feet of water. The fire brigade conducted a search operation and recovered the bodies of the boys, who were suspected to have drowned while taking a bath.
Earlier on Friday, two children drowned in a deep rainwater ditch in the New Usmanpur area of Delhi. The heavy rains have caused significant waterlogging, traffic jams, and accidents in Delhi-NCR. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted more heavy rainfall in Delhi and other parts of North India over the next two days. An orange alert has been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and East Rajasthan, with warnings for extremely heavy rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Additionally, three laborers were found dead under the rubble of a collapsed wall at a construction site in Vasant Vihar due to the heavy rain. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team recovered their bodies from a pit at the site.
