New Delhi, India – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has recorded the statements of TV actors Karan Wahi and Krystle D’Souza as part of an investigation into illegal online forex trading through the OctaFx app. The actors are being questioned for promoting the platform.

The ED’s actions follow search operations conducted on June 18 in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Delhi. During these searches, bank funds amounting to Rs 2.7 crore were frozen, and various incriminating documents and digital devices were seized.

The investigation began based on an FIR filed by Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Pune. The FIR accused several individuals of luring people with false promises of high returns through forex trading on the OctaFx platform.

The ED discovered that OctaFx and its website are operating in India without authorization from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The platform uses referral-based incentives to attract users and has manipulated trade activities, leading to significant losses for traders. The funds collected were transferred to multiple e-wallets and dummy bank accounts.

OctaFx India Pvt Ltd and its related entities have allegedly earned over Rs 500 crore by defrauding investors. A portion of these funds was transferred abroad under the guise of bogus services. The ED has attached assets worth Rs 35 crore, including cryptocurrencies, bank balances, and gold coins.

The investigation also revealed a network of chartered accountants and professionals who provided fake certificates and facilitated the layering of funds. The entire operation is managed by the owners of OctaFx group entities based in Spain, Russia, Georgia, and Dubai.
