As the vote counting for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections began, TS Tony, the Congress candidate from the Bahu Assembly seat, expressed confidence in the Congress-NC alliance forming the government. He stated, “Congress-NC alliance is going to form the government with a 2/3 majority.” Tony criticized the BJP, accusing them of turning Jammu into a “city of liquors” and undermining democracy.

Omar Abdullah’s Warning to BJP

National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah warned the BJP against any manipulations if the election results are not in their favor. He expressed hope for the NC-Congress alliance’s victory, emphasizing the importance of respecting the people’s mandate.

Election Details

The Jammu and Kashmir elections, held after a decade, saw the Congress and National Conference contesting together, while the PDP and BJP ran independently. The elections for 90 constituencies took place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.
