Tripura Strike Called After CPI(M) Candidate Badal Shil’s Murder

Agartala (Tripura), July 14: The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation in Tripura has announced its support for a 12-hour strike called by the Left Front on Sunday. This strike is in response to the murder of CPI(M) Zilla Parishad candidate Comrade Badal Shil.

Incident Details

On July 11, Comrade Badal Shil submitted his nomination paper for the South Tripura District Council polls. The next day, he was attacked by unidentified miscreants and was rushed to GB Hospital in Agartala, where he underwent surgery. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later that day.

Reactions and Condolences

The CPI(ML) Tripura State Committee expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to Shil’s family, condemning the murder. The CPI(M) accused BJP goons of the attack and called for a 12-hour bandh in Tripura.

BJP’s Response

BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee accused the CPI(M) of politicizing the incident and assured that the police are actively investigating the case. He urged eyewitnesses to come forward with information.

Government Directive

In view of the strike, the Tripura government has issued a directive to maintain essential services. All public transport and essential services are to function normally, and any violation by government employees will be taken seriously.
