Operation Details

In a significant operation, Tripura Police seized 102,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 2.55 crore in Dhalai district. The operation took place at the Upanagar Naka checkpoint, where two vehicles traveling from Manu to Ambassa were stopped and searched.

Inspection and Discovery

During the search, conducted in the presence of Sub-divisional Police Officer Ambassa, an Executive Magistrate, and independent witnesses, police found 51 small packets containing the Yaba tablets. Four individuals, including the drivers, were detained.

Legal Action and Investigation

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing. This operation is part of Tripura Police’s mission to combat illegal drug trade and promote a drug-free state.

Chief Minister’s Response

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha praised the police’s efforts, stating, “Big crackdown on drug trafficking! Tripura Police intercepted 2 vehicles coming from Manu towards Ambassa at Upanagar Naka today at 1 PM. They recovered 51 packets containing 1,02,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2.55 cr. 4 persons, including drivers, detained. Case registered under NDPS Act.”
